Through many still running researches, new details about prenatal life are discovered, but there are still many questions to be answered about the psychical development of the baby, just as there are still many points to explain for knowing how the human brain elaborates thoughts….. The study of the brain evolution has allowed to affirm that the memory is set up already in the first quarter of pregnancy, memory which develops itself thanks to the stimulations it receives. The application of the ultrasounds, of the optical fibres and of special lens have allowed to enter into the intra-uterine world. One has obtained in that way the tangible, unmistakable physiological demonstration that the foetus is a being capable to react to sensorial and affective stimuli. The fact that the foetus shows to be capable to react sensorially to the environment around it lets suppose that he has certain learning capacities. The researchers who have dedicated themselves to the study of pre- and perinatal psychology, state that the babies are fully aware to what is happening before their birth, during delivery and immediately after.

It is not possible to deny that the physical and psychological development is in strict connection with the quality of life the parents lead during pregnancy Te mother is, of course, the most important element; one can say that she is the modeller of the human being, the modeller since conception, because, even if she cannot interfere with the genetic program (the last discoveries try to deny this opinion), we know that the living style during gestation has a big influence on the development of the baby to be born,. In fact, it communicates with its mother in three ways:
• Physiological: any attitude of the mother towards the baby during pregnancy is at the basis of a continuous exchange;
• Behaviour: the baby manifests itself giving kicks and the mother replies putting her hand on her tummy.
• In a more subtle way, called “empatic”: much more difficult to explain…. How can the baby know if mother loves it or if she refuses it ?

It is important that future parents are conscious of it, because this unrepeatable experience for the baby, will have consequences which will last for ever. As a matter of fact, a loving connection with the parents since the very beginning represents an advantage for the baby from many points of view. Love is food for the baby in gestation !
